Since 2016, from its home in South Wales, Radio Wigwam has proudly championed independent and grassroots music through its internationally recognised Annual Awards.
As the awards reach their 10th year, they enter an exciting new chapter.
From 2027 onwards, the event has been rebranded as The Grassroots Music Awards — reflecting its broader mission to celebrate not just the artists we play, but the venues, promoters and behind-the-scenes teams who power the independent music scene.
This is more than a name change.
It’s a statement of purpose.

Grassroots music is where everything begins.
The Grassroots Music Awards exist to amplify independent voices, build confidence and provide meaningful recognition that can genuinely support career progression.
For many artists, this is their first industry nomination. Some are just starting out on their journey. For others, it’s the culmination of many years of hard graft.
For venues and teams, it’s long-overdue recognition of work that often goes unseen.
We are proud that the awards remain accessible, community-led and focused on long-term impact rather than short-term hype.
